L-S boys basketball now 3-0

SULLY — The Lynnville-Sully boys basketball team picked up a pair of wins over the weekend to improve to 3-0 overall — a 67-35 victory at Iowa Valley on Friday and an 80-68 win over Eddyville-Blakesburg Saturday. In the win at Iowa Valley, the Hawks broke open a 6-6 tie by outscoring the Tigers 25-9 in the second quarter. “Our defense kept us in the game early when our offense was struggling,” L-S coach Nick Harthoorn said. “The guys started knocking down some shots in the second quarter.” Dallas Bryan led the Hawks with 21 points while Logan Vos collected 12 rebounds. At home against E-B, the Hawks outscored the Rockets 38-20 in the second and third quarters to pull away. “They caused us to turn the ball over a few too many times,” said Harthoorn of the 16 turnovers lost by his team. “The boys hung tough and were able to make enough plays to win.” Nick Beyer led Lynnville-Sully with 19 points while TJ Cullen collected 17.
