Candidate forum slated for Thursday evening

Jasper County voters will get their best chance to meet the local candidates Thursday evening. The League of Women Voters of Jasper County will be hosting a candidate forum for contested state and local races in the general election on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Newton City Hall council chambers. The forum will feature statements from the candidates and question and answers from the audience. Candidates for the Iowa House of Representatives, Paul Bell, the incumbent, and Adam Vandall, will begin the forum. Candidates for the Jasper County Board of Supervisors, Democrat Denny Stevenson and Republican Jack Suiter, will begin their portion of the forum at approximately 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
