Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements. A visitation with the family will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., service time, on Friday at the First United Methodist Church. Viola Harriet Patterson, 99, the daughter of Harry DeWitt and Emma Caroline (Holtz) Wendel, was born Sept. 8, 1909, in Marshall County, Iowa. A graduate of the Newton Senior High School in 1928, she graduated with a degree in teaching from the State College of Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa, in 1932.
