Former City Manager Watson has new job

Former Newton City Manager David Watson now has a new job. Watson was announced as the new city manager of Cameron, Mo., Monday night during Cameron’s city council meeting. According to the Cameron Citizen-Observer’s Web site, Watson will assume his duties as city manager on Oct. 20. Watson became Newton’s city manager in August 2006, replacing David Schornack, who resigned the previous April. Watson served as city manager only 20 months and announced his resignation on April 10 of this year. The resignation came with a severance package of $40,095, which included 31⁄2 months’ salary and accrued vacation. Newton City Attorney Darrin Hamilton assumed the city manager duties when Watson left.
