Hawk runners take second in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN — The Lynnville-Sully cross country teams showed continued improvement Monday in a meet at the Brooklyn Country Club. The L-S girls took second with 58 points, while Gladbrook Reinbeck won with 50. The L-S boys took third with 92 points. Belle Plaine won with 41 points, while host BGM was second with 83. Mariah Terlouw led the girls with a time of 17:52, good for fourth. Other scorers were Cassie Schwartz (19:31, 10th), Carly Van Wyk (19:37, 11th), Kelsi Vanden Hoek (20:05, 16th) and Maddi Jansen (20:33, 17th). “The girls’ team finished second by just eight points and beat Belle Plaine by 16, who just last week beat us by 21,” L-S coach Darin Arkema said. “All of the girls got behind the idea that if a Gladbrook or Belle Plaine jer
