More results of local participants winning at the Iowa State Fair

Here are more Jasper County residents’ results from this year’s edition of the Iowa State Fair, as reported to the Daily News by readMedia Newswire: • Gordon Anderson received a first place in the novelty, most colorful, non-commercial category for his 1930 Model A in the Iowa State Fair Parade, judged Aug. 6. • James Farm of Searsboro won the Reserve Grand Champion Female in the Red Angus Open Show, held Aug. 15 at the Iowa State Fair. In the Junior Show, Aly James of Searsboro won the Grand Champion Female banner with her Champion Junior Heifer. Division winners in the Red Angus Open Show include James Red Angus with the Champion Heifer calf, and the Reserve Champion Bull Calf; and Nolin Red Angus of Monroe with the Reserve Champion Bull Calf. Division winners in the Red Angus Junior Show include Aly James of Searsboro with the Champion Junior Heifer. • Sleepy Hollow Farm in Prairie City took first place in the light wool yearling females 13-24 months category, and Angela Rumbaugh took third place. Sleepy Hollow also took third place in the Light Wool Juvenile Females 5-12 months category in the Llama competition at the Iowa State Fair. In the light wool adult females 37 months and over, Beantown of Prairie City placed third. Sleepy Hollow Farm of Prairie City received the light wool Reserve Grand Champion Female. Sleepy Hollow also took first place in the light wool juvenile males 5-12 month category; first place in the light wool two-year old males 25-36 months category; and the light wool Grand Champion Male, and the Reserve Champion Male. Angela Rumbaugh of Colfax placed sixth in the medium wool yearling males 13-24 months, ALSA. Molly Johnson of Colfax took first place and Angela Rumbaugh took second in the non-breeders NB yearlings 13-24 months class. Rumbaugh also placed third in the NB adult 37 months and over class. • Regina Frahm of Newton was named reserve champion in the colored hands spinning fleeces in the Wool Show division of the Open Class Livestock Department, judged Aug. 7 at the Iowa State Fair. Frahm also placed first in the 50s-58’s 3⁄8 and 1⁄4 blood combing category; first place and third place in the 60’s-64’s fine and 1⁄2 blood combing in the farm flock fleeces category. Douglas Durant of Baxter took first and second place in the 50’s-58’s 3⁄8 and 1⁄4 blood combing category in the farm flock fleeces division. • Austin Hester of Baxter showed the reserve champion Poland China in the 4-H Breeding Swine Show at the Iowa State Fair, Aug. 11. • Moffitt Angus Farms of Colfax showed the Reserve Champion Junior Heifer Calf in the Angus Cattle Show, Aug. 12 at the Iowa State Fair. • Jim Crandell of Newton was the sole winner in the Texan Pioneers categories in the Pigeon contest, judged Aug. 12 at the Iowa State Fair. Crandell also placed first and second in the Rollers YC category, second in the Rollers OH category, second in the Rollers OC category and seventh in the Rollers YH category; as well as first and sixth place in the Flying Homer YC category. Rich Whaley of Mingo placed first in the English Trumpeters OC category, and second in the Flying Homer YC category. Crandell took fourth and eighth place in the Flying Homer OH category; and eighth place in the Flying Homer OC category. Rich Whaley of Mingo placed first and third in the Flying Homer YH category. • Mar-Bet Farm of Sully showed the Reserve Champion Cow/Calf in the South Devon Cattle Show Aug. 14 at the Iowa State Fair. • JS Simmentals of Prairie City earned the Reserve Grand Champion and Iowa Champion bull titles for their Champion Senior Bull Calf, in the Simmental Show at the Iowa State Fair on Aug. 16. • Angie Wandling of Newton placed third in the Most Braids, ages 6 and under category in the Hairstyle Contest at the Iowa State Fair, judged Aug. 17. • Brice Conover of Baxter won both the Reserve Champion Gilt ant Reserve Champion Boar at the Berkshire Swine Show, judged Aug. 15 at the Iowa State Fair. • Arvin DeCook of Sully took first place in the Past Winner’s class of the open Ag Mechanics competition, judged Aug. 8 at the Iowa State Fair. • Cannon Charolais Farm of Newton showed the Iowa Champion Bull in the Charolais Cattle Show, judged Aug. 16 at the Iowa State Fair. ML Lewis Charolais of Monroe showed the Reserve Champion Intermediate Female in the show. • Zachary Switch Boers of Prairie City took seventh place and Jeff Iske of Newton took ninth in the Fullblood Bucs category of the Boer Goat Show, judged Aug. 17 at the Iowa State Fair. Iske also placed third in the Market Wethers Class 1 category, and seventh in the Market Wethers Class 4 category. Zachary Switch Boers took seventh in the Market Wethers Class 7, and tenth in the Market Wethers Class 9. • Armand DeCook of Sully placed in several categories in the Draft Pony Show, judged Aug. 14-16 at the Iowa State Fair. Armand DeCook placed fifth in the Draft Pony Ladies Cart 46 inches and under; sixth in the Draft Pony Cart 38 inches to 44 inches; fourth place in the Draft Pony Team 38 inches to 44 inches; sixth in the Draft Pony Team 44 inches to 46 inches; fifth in the Draft Pony Unicorn Hitch 46 inches and under; second place in the Draft Pony Youth Cart Driver 10 and under; second in the Draft Pony Youth Cart Driver 11-18 years; and second in the Draft Pony Youth Team 18 and under.
