Motorcycle accident injures two

Local authorities said two Prairie City residents were seriously injured in a motorcycle accident Wednesday evening after colliding with a deer. Officials with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office said a Prairie City man was traveling northbound on a motorcycle with another person in the 11500 block of Highway S6G just after 9 p.m. when they hit the deer. The impact resulted in an explosion of flames, officials said, and the passenger was airlifted for medical attention. The driver was taken to a hospital by ambulance. The names of the victims and additional information have not been released by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office at this time. The driver was cited with failure to have a motorcycle license and failure to have insurance.
