FOTA promoting spay, neuter discounts

Special to the Daily News Friends of the Animals of Jasper County (FOTA) is promoting Spay Day USA ’08 and area residents will again have the opportunity to take advantage of a 20 percent discount on the cost of spaying or neutering their family pet. In honor of Spay Day USA and a continued effort to reduce the number of unwanted pets that do not find homes, many area veterinarians are offering a 20 percent discount on spay and neuter surgeries for a short period of time. While the designated date of Spay Day is Feb. 26, some veterinarians may offer this discount more than one day. FOTA president Joyce Moen urges pet owners to contact their veterinarian early to take advantage of the special discount offer. FOTA began promoting local participation in Spay Day in 1998 and hopes to break last year’s record number of spays and neuters. Clinics and hospitals whose veterinarians are offering discounts are Newton Animal Clinic, 792-4860; Parkview Animal Hospital in Newton, 792-0340; Monroe Animal Clinic, (641) 259-2019; Walker Veterinary Clinic in Prairie City, (515) 994-2430; Lynnville/Sully Veterinary Clinic, (641) 594-3191; Colfax Veterinary Clinic, (515) 674-3575; Gilman Veterinary Clinic, (641) 498-7300; Grinnell Veterinary Clinic, (641) 236-4461; and All Pets Veterinary Hospital in Grinnell, (641) 236-6869.
