Randy Eugene Farr, 60, of Newton, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020, in rural Warren County. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13 at the funeral home. Masks will be required to attend services and social distancing will be enforced. Memorials in Randy’s name (checks made payable to Harry Farr) may be left at the funeral home.
Randy, the son of Harry and Patty (Binegar) Farr, was born Nov. 13, 1960, in Newton. He grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1979. Randy worked at the Maytag Company in Newton before they closed. He then attended Heavy Equipment Operator School in Alabama. For the last 10 years, Randy worked for JMT Trucking in Ankeny as a truck driver. Randy lived in Des Moines for many years and had moved back to Newton two and half years ago.
Randy loved life and lived it to the fullest. He liked riding Harleys, car racing and hunting and fishing. He also was a talented singer and enjoyed singing karaoke. Randy was an avid Chicago Bears and Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Randy is survived by his parents, Harry (Patty) Farr of Newton; siblings, Tony (Judy) Farr of Newton and Tami (Tim) Halverson of Malone, Wis.; nieces, Lane (Jasper) Tratchel, Samantha Farr and Callie (Josh) Fontenette; nephew, Levi Halverson (Haleigh Bush); and his girlfriend, Kerry Ann Fane of Newton and her children, Dylan and Brady Eberline. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
