Jasper County Farm Bureau announces photo contest

The Jasper County Farm Bureau has announced its second annual “Fall for Agriculture” photo contest is now open for entries.

The contest opened Wednesday, Oct. 28 and will be open until Nov. 23. Contest winners will receive $50, just in time for the holidays. The farm bureau hopes the contest will be a celebration of the fall season and agriculture in the county, the organization said in a press release Oct. 26.

The contest is separated into two age groups, high school students only and any Jasper County Resident. High schoolers can submit a photo in any of the following content areas: harvest, livestock, other agriculture. One overall high school student will be selected as a prize winner. For all other Jasper County residents, the categories are the same and one winner will be selected from each of the three categories.

In the harvest category, it includes machinery, field work, transportation, storage and can include any commercial crops (corn, soybeans). Livestock is fairly self explanatory with photos from any farm raised animal. Other ag invites the photographers to use their imagination and submit images of the general fall scenes or of any specialty crop such as apples, pumpkins or sunflowers.

To enter, email your submission to jasper.county@ifbf.org. Entrants must include their first and last name, address as they must live within Jasper County to be included, photo and category name and phone number and/or email address. The photo and information may also be submitted via Facebook messenger.

All submissions will be displayed on the Jasper County Iowa Farm Bureau Facebook page. The top photo in each category will be selected by 1 p.m. Nov. 23. A total of four photos will be selected for prizes and each winner will receive a $50 Visa gift card.

Entrants in the JCFB “Fall for Jasper County Agriculture” contest should only submit their own photos to be considered. Only one submission per person, per category will be accepted, therefore one individual person can only submit a total of three photos. Winners will be contacted via phone or email.
