Advantage Credit Union names new CEO

Advantage Credit Union in Newton has appointed Leslie Nehring as the new Chief Executive Officer

After working at Advantage Credit Union since March 2001, Leslie Nehring has been named the new Chief Executive Officer. Initially hired as a loan processor, she has been in a multitude of roles including teller and receptionist but spent a majority of her career as a loan officer from 2001-2010. In 2010, she was promoted to the Loan Officer/Collections Specialist until she was promoted to Chief Operations Officer in 2014.

In 2017, Nehring graduated from the Credit Union National Association’s management program. This three-year executive training program teaches core credit union executive responsibilities, financial operations and leadership insights along with in-depth advanced training from the University of Wisconsin School of Business.

Nehring succeeds Corinne Coyle as CEO, who is retiring.

“Leslie has a passion for ACU and our members. I am confident she will do a great job leading the credit union into the future,” Coyle said.

“I’m very excited and grateful to be the next CEO of Advantage Credit Union. Corinne Coyle has taken this credit union from serving a small, three county region to now serving a nineteen county region. Under her direction, we have grown in many areas,” Nerhing said. “Most recently in our digital offerings, which gives us the ability to be technologically competitive, while allowing us continue to provide the personal service credit unions are known for.”

Darla Modlin, board member for Advantage Credit Union said, “We are extremely pleased to have Leslie as our next CEO of Advantage Credit Union. She brings many years of service and dedication to our members along with new ideas and ambition in keeping our credit union moving in the right direction. We are looking forward to the next step in serving our members.”

When asked to reflect on her time spent at the credit union, Nehring said the following, “To me, what makes the credit union great is our commitment to meeting our members where they are at and developing relationships along the way. We believe in our members and celebrating their financial victories is something very important to us. Just as we believe in investing in our members, I can’t thank the board enough for investing in me over the years. They have allowed me to grow through various positions at the credit union and happily provided training along the way. Our board really does a great job of exercising the same ‘People Helping People’ philosophy with developing our staff that we use with our members.”

Nehring has lived in Jasper County since she was a small child and is a Newton Cardinal through and through. She is a 1998 graduate of Newton Senior High School. She has two daughters, Kameron, a freshman at William Penn University, and Aurora, a junior at Newton Senior High School. She is engaged to Dallas Brickman and is planning a 2021 wedding.

Advantage Credit Union is open to everyone who lives or works in Jasper County or 18 other counties in Central Iowa.
