Volunteers to Take Away Hunger

Jasper County Take Away Hunger will help local volunteers package meals to feed families in need on March 28 at the Lynnville Friends Church in Lynnville.

Gather a team of 12 people and collect $360 in donations, then help package the highly nutritious meals to feed the hungry. All are welcome, including church groups, service clubs, businesses, youth groups and individuals who would like to participate in the packaging event.

Since Nov. 8, 2009, more than 620,000 meals have been packaged by local volunteers that have fed families in Newton, Colfax, Baxter, Pella, Marshalltown and other communities in Iowa, Texas, Oklahoma, North and South Carolina, Florida and other U.S. states, and in other countries throughout the world, such as Haiti, Nicaragua and Sudan.
