Tigerhawk wrestlers rout HLV, lose to B-F

VICTOR — Colfax-Mingo’s wrestling team took advantage of eight forfeits during an easy win over HLV on Thursday night. The Tigerhawks also struggled in contested matches in a loss to Bondurant-Farrar.

Colfax-Mingo went 3-3 in contested matches against HLV and won 66-17. It was 2-8 in contested matches in a 61-15 loss to Bondurant-Farrar.

Cyden Fitch, Hunter Stevens and Jakob Chapman were all 2-0 on the night.

Fitch won both of his matches by pin, while Stevens took a forfeit and won a match 11-4 and Chapman had one win by forfeit and another by pin.

Stevens (17-9), Trystin Ross (22-6) and Maggie Schroeder all took forfeits at 152, 160 and 170 to open the dual against HLV.

Shane Aikin (19-9) won by fall at 182 to push the lead to 24-0.

After two wins by the Warriors, the Tigerhawks got a pin by Chapman at 285 and Noah Strohmeyer (19-5), Danica Linn (10-5) and Nicolasa Hernandez all took forfeits at 106, 113 and 120 to extend the lead to 48-12.

The dual ended when Samantha Haney took a forfeit at 132, Fitch won by fall at 138 and Tim Carroll accepted a forfeit at 145.

Class 1A No. 10 Fitch (26-4) opened the Bondurant-Farrar dual with a win by pin over Nick Chalfant at 138.

Stevens defeated Christian Oleson 11-4 at 152 to put C-M back in front.

The Blue Jays, who have four ranked wrestlers in the lower weights, won 10 of the next 11 matches to pull away. Chapman (19-10) took a forfeit at 285.

The Tigerhawks host Knoxville and Iowa Valley at 6 p.m. on Thursday in Colfax.
