Four things to know from the December Baxter City Council meeting

1. Baxter Economic Development Committee officers were announced. Ryan Bucklin will serve as president, Jon Northrup with be vice president, Carol Bell is treasurer and Doug Bishop is secretary. Justin Smith and Nick Bethards were also approved as new members to the committee.

2. Council approved to proceed with procedures to sell Lot 11 at Westfield Horizons Phase II for new home construction, contingent upon relocation of the gazebo and landscaping rocks to the Chichaqua Valley Trailhead. Councilman Josh Meckly presented a Welcome Center Lot Sale Proposal for Westfield Horizons he designed to address the sale of the lot and handing of the profits from the lot sale, to be used specifically for the development of a future park within the subdivision or a joint park within the Rec Complex with subdivision access for the council to consider. Council approved the proposal and park agreement .

3. A candidate recommended for the utility clerk/office assistant position was approved contingent up on reference and background checks. The interview process was completed and the hourly wage was set along with a future wage increase contingent upon completion of EMT certification and active participation in the Baxter Rescue Unit.

4. The custodian job description was reviewed along with further discussion on the cleaning of the fire/ambulance office, restroom and HIPAA regulations. It was noted it should be an ambulance member or employee’s responsibility to keep all confidential records kept in city offices secured for cleaning and all other purpose. Changes were requested to the description prior to posting of the position.
