Continue with legal investigation

I’ve always been a conservative, but I am just about at the end of my rope with the partisanship going on in Congress. And as this investigation continues to play out, we need to find some common ground in the best interest of respecting the constitutional processes our nation has always relied on in times of crisis.

This Ukraine situation should be troubling for all Americans, but it is an opportunity for constitutionalist Republicans like myself to execute on our beliefs. Congress has the power of the purse, meaning taxpayer-funded foreign aid should not be re-appropriated to dig for dirt on your political opponent. And if that is indeed the arrangement that was made, another constitutional power should be used to its fullest extent — the power of investigation.

All members of Congress, but especially some of the strongest voices in the U.S. Senate like Chuck Grassley, have an obligation to deliver on their end of the “checks and balances” system that America has always operated within. I urge Congress to follow through on the current inquiry and conduct a full, fair and legal process the rest of the way.
