Roberta “Bert” Noe

Oct. 30, 2019

Roberta “Bert” Noe, 95, of Ankeny, died on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at MercyOne Hospice — Johnston.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.

Bert, the daughter of William and Letha (Wilcox) Jontz, was born on Dec. 14, 1923 on the family farm near Baxter. She grew up in Baxter and graduated from Baxter High School. After high school, Bert attended Iowa State Teacher’s College. Bert was united in marriage with Charles “Chuck” Noe in Missouri. While Chuck was in the Coast Guard, they lived on the West Coast and Roberta worked in a fish factory. Later Bert and Chuck lived in many different locations as they followed Chuck’s career as a professional chef. Following Chuck’s death in 1966, Bert returned to Iowa and lived in the Des Moines area. She worked for many years at AT&T and also part time in retail sales. Following her retirement from AT&T, Bert continued to work and held a position at the Hoover Building working for the State of Iowa.

Bert is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chuck; and two brothers, Charles and Clyde Jontz.
