Police Blotter Sept. 3, 2019

Newton Police Department

• Susan D. Martindale, 56, of Des Moines, was charged with simple assault at 3:25 p.m. Aug. 19 in the 400 block of East 19th Street South. According to the Newton Police Department, Martindale stepped onto the victim’s presumed property after a heated verbal argument took place over property lines. Threats were made to cause physical harm. When Martindale got in the victim’s face to argue more, Martindale stomped on the victim’s foot several times and then tried to kick him in the groin. The victim walked away and called the police. When officers arrived, Martindale stated the victim had stomped on her foot first but Newton police did not see any redness or swelling after the fight and there was no evidence of that from the victim’s security surveillance video. She was cited and released to appear in court.
