Newton Police Department

• Darion S. Hermes, 18, of Newton, was charged with carrying weapons at approximately 5 p.m. May 27 at the intersection of East 17th Street North and North 11th Avenue East. Newton Police responded to a domestic situation. Dispatch informed the officers Hermes may have a gun. Officers arrived at the parking lot of Grace Church where they identified Hermes sitting on a motorcycle. Officers patted down Hermes and during that time they discovered he had brass knuckles which he was carrying concealed during the argument with the victim. He was arrested June 13 and transported to the Jasper County Jail.

• Nicholas J. Knudsen, 34, of Newton, was charged with interference with official acts and domestic abuse at 3:30 a.m. June 22 in the 1600 block of South 15th Avenue West. The Newton Police Department reported officers responded to an out of control male, identified as Knudsen, allegedly banging on windows. Officers told him multiple times to stop. He ran into an apartment, grabbed a backpack and proceeded to run away from officers. Knudsen was given multiple orders to stop, but he did not comply. Officers made contact with a victim alleging Knudsen assaulted him and he wished to press charges. The victim said Knudsen grabbed him, hit him in the head and then threw him to the ground. The victim had what looked like a shard of glass sticking out of his shin that was bleeding. Knudsen was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Kira S. Frisch-Johnson, 20, of Newton, was charged with a false 911 call at 3 a.m. June 21 in the 300 block of South Second Avenue West. The Newton Police Department reported officers responded to a 911 call regarding two emergency calls. The first call was someone saying “how do you get the guts to rob somebody,” and the second call was stating the Cardinal Corner was being robbed. When police arrived they found Frisch-Johnson sitting at a picnic table. She admitted to making the first call but denied making the second call. She was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Joshua J. White, 34, of Newton, was charged with assault at midnight June 22 in the 400 block of West Seventh Street North. The Newton Police Department reported officers responded to reports of a domestic fight. When they arrived they found the victim outside. The victim said they were drinking and went to sleep. White woke up and saw items in a chair with the victim. White then accused the victim of stealing and the victim called the police. That is when the White allegedly pushed the victim and they fell over a chair. White was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail. White was also arrested for a Sac County warrant for contempt of court.
