Five things to know from the June Baxter School Board meeting

1. Several 28E Agreements were approved with area school districts for services in the district. Among those approved were an agreement with PCM for a media specialist, with West Marshall for the talented and gifted instructor and with Colfax-Mingo for an additional guidance counselor, media specialist and a shared curriculum director.

2. Bids for the State Street parking improvements and west parking lot improvements at the west side parking were approved for $18,005 and $21,912 to Mid-State Construction. West parking lot improvements: sidewalk by building bid proposals were not approved due to the significantly lower bids that were taken.

3. The Baxter School Safety Plan was approved following a discussion on the stop in closed session. Per Iowa Code section 21.5(1)(a), the safety plan is authorized to be kept confidential.

4. Jasper County Deputy Sheriff Mike Gunsaulus was approved as a Level II Investigator for Student Abuse and Sara Tiedje, Baxter school nurse, was approved as the Level I Investigator for Student Abuse for the upcoming school year.

5. An electrical bid for $10,745 to update the vocational agriculture building was approved to DePenning and Associates, Inc.
