Newton Police Department

• Stormy A. Agan, 19, of Newton, and Jessica N. Knox, 20, of Newton, were charged with gathering where marijuana is used at 9 p.m. June 10 in the 1400 block of North 11th Avenue East. Newton police and EMS were dispatched on a report of a male who was vomiting and not completely alert. Present at the scene were Knox and Agan along with another person and an infant. Knox told police that Agan had eaten a marijuana edible on June 8. At approximately 9:40 p.m. June 10 police received a report of a suspicious male in the 700 block of East 12th Street Place North. The police identified the male who told police he was living with Knox and Agan. He said Agan, Knox and two others had been smoking marijuana oil. He also told police an infant was present while everyone was smoking the oil. Knox and Agan were arrested and transported to the Jasper County Jail.

• Tyler D. Lakin, 28, of Newton, was arrested on warrants for extortion and third-degree harassment June 15. During the arrest he was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Around Dec. 7, 2018, Lakin communicated with the victim through text message. In the message, Lakin had an explicit picture of the victim and threatened to post it and others to social media if the victim did not give him $55. During Lakin’s arrest for his active warrants, Newton police found a dark glass pipe with residue next to the tire of the patrol car. Police reviewed dashcam footage showing Lakin dropping the pipe on the ground. He was arrested and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
