Newton Police Department

• Maddisen M. Lane-Bristow, 18, of Knoxville, was charged with fifth-degree theft at 3:07 p.m. May 13. According to the Newton Police Department, officers were called to Walmart on a report of a theft. Upon arrival, officers spoke to a Walmart employee who had observed Lane-Bristow not scanning all items and attempted to leave the store without paying for all of the items. Officers were given the receipt for the stolen items, totaling $55.67. Lane-Bristow was cited and released to appear in court.

• Randy G. Dickerson, 33, of Newton, was charged with disorderly conduct and fifth-degree criminal mischief at 5:09 p.m. May 14 in the 200 block of North Fourth Avenue East. According to the Newton Police Department, officers were called to MercyOne Newton Medical Center on a report of a patient causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spoke to MercyOne Newton staff who said Dickerson had become upset when he was unable to contact an individual at which point he began punching, kicking and throwing items in the room. Officers found broken drywall and a damaged metal tray. After being read his rights, Dickerson admitted to being loud, having anger problems and kicking a meal stand which caused damage to the wall and punching the wall to the next room and the divider wall. Damage was estimated at less than $250. He was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
