PCM boys lose to WCV on pitch

STUART — Prairie City-Monroe’s boys’ soccer team held a lead with 24 minutes to play, but West Central Valley rallied at home to win a non-conference match 4-3.
The Mustangs and Wildcats were tied at 1-all at halftime. Nick Dredge put PCM up 3-2 in the 56th minute, but West Central Valley rallied with a pair of goals in the final eight minutes.
Owen Hugen scored his third goal of the season when he tied the score at 1-all in the first half. Collin Petersen became the 11th Mustang to score this season in the second half and that tied the score at 2.
Dredge’s header off a Carson Clark assist allowed PCM (9-5) to go in front for the first time all night, but the lead was short-lived.
West Central Valley (7-8) tied the game on a free kick with 7:45 to play. The Wildcats game-winning goal came with 4 minutes to go.
PCM returns to the pitch against Des Moines Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Urbandale.
