PCM soccer splits with Spartans

MAXWELL — Dominic McCarville scored twice and Prairie City-Monroe’s boys’ soccer team improved to 5-1 following a 3-0 victory over Collins-Maxwell on Thursday.

McCarville becomes the seventh Mustang to score this season but the first to record more than one goal. PCM has won four straight matches, three of which have come by way of the shutout.

The Mustangs led 2-0 at halftime. They scored first on an own goal by the Spartans (0-7). PCM capped the win when McCarville scored on a header in the final minute off a pass from Carson Clark.

PCM plays on the road at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in Chariton.

GIRLS SOCCER

Collins-Maxwell 3, PCM 0

PCM dropped to 0-4 on the season with a loss to Collins-Maxwell on Thursday. The Spartans won their third straight match and are now 3-1 on the season.

The Mustangs took four shots on goal. Camilla Schlosser had 10 saves in the loss.

PCM hosts Chariton at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Monroe.
