• Aaron D. Reeves, 23, of Newton, was charged with interference with official acts, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia at 5:52 p.m. Saturday. According to Newton police, officers were traveling westbound in the 400 block of South Eighth Avenue West when they saw Reeves walking northbound. The officers were aware there was an active arrest warrant from the Iowa Department of Corrections for escape from a residential facility. They chased him to West Sixth Street South, where officers arrested Reeves and found a plastic bag with a green leafy substance later determined to be marijuana and a glass pipe with residue in his possession. Reeves was transported to Jasper County Jail.

• Wyatt W. Wheatcraft, 21, of Colfax, was charged with child endangerment at 5:36 p.m. Saturday. According to Newton police, officers were sent to the 800 block of West Fifth Street South. Upon arrival, Wheatcraft answered the door with a 19-month-old child and officers could detect a strong odor of marijuana. After officers received consent to go inside, they noticed the odor within the entire house and saw drug paraphernalia within a close distance to the child’s toys. Wheatcraft was arrested and transported to Jasper County Jail.
