Newton Police Department
• Jeremy Z. Beeler, 35, of Newton, was charged with public intoxication and interfering with official acts at 10:33 p.m. Tuesday. According to Newton police, officers were sent to the 100 block of East Fourth Street South to investigate a suspicious male. Upon arrival, officers found Beeler on the deck of a home with watery and bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol. After witnessing Beeler’s slow speech while talking, denying any drinking and mentioning he was there to meet up with a female, officers arrested him and put him through sobriety tests which he refused to do. Beeler was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
