Winona June Clark

Winona June Clark, 87, of Newton, joined her family with the Lord Sunday, March 17, 2019. Per her wishes, there will be no funeral services.

The daughter of Roy N. and Lola R. (Hitchler) Baty, Winona was born May 15, 1931, in Metz. She graduated from Newton High School in 1949. Winona was united in marriage to Vernon Leroy Tool Dec. 28, 1948. Following Vern’s death, she later wed Warren W. Clark, Oct. 8, 1983. Winona retired following her work as a CNA at Skiff Hospital and prior to that, as a teacher’s aide for the Newton Community Schools.

Those left to honor her memory are daughters, Wyvonne (Greg) Bell and Shelly (Randy) Salasberry, both of Newton; stepson, John (Kari) Clark of Olathe, Kan.; daughter-in-law, Loretta Tool of Newton; eight grandchildren, Andy, Priya, Holly, Joel, Skyler, Amy, Jared, Logan and Teller; five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother and sisters; Doris Immell of Newton, Junella Shunk of Ohio and John Baty of Virginia. Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands; son, Craig R. Tool; brother, Carroll Baty; sisters, Rosemond Edwards, Lorraine Specht, Miriam Hayes, Elda Baty, Pauline Britsch, Faith Spect and Dena Couch.
