Blues Under the Blue Roof

6:30 p.m. Monday — Heath & Scoots perform at the library. Live musical performances will be held every Monday evening in February, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This event is free to attend and open to the public. The Blues Under the Blue Roof concert series is made possible by the South Skunk Blues Society, Jasper County Arts Connection, and the Newton Public Library Foundation. All ages welcome.

Conversation Café

Wednesday, February 20 – 10:30 am

Do you want to practice your English skills? Looking to meet new people in your community? Join community members and English language learners to enjoy light refreshments and conversation. Activities are provided to prompt and encourage conversation. No registration required.

Tuesday Tea with Austen

10 a.m. Feb. 26 — Join our Jane Austen book club for a discussion of "Sense and Sensibility." Copies of the book may be requested at the library information desk or by calling 641-792-4108. Tea and light refreshments will be served. New members always welcome.

Bibliophile Book Club

1 p.m. Feb. 27 — Join our new library book club for a discussion of "This Blessed Earth" by Ted Genoways. Copies of the book may be requested at the library information desk or by calling 641-792-4108. New members always welcome.

Escape from Hogwarts

5 to 7 p.m. March 5-7 — We solemnly swear that we are up to no good. Grab your friends and lose yourself in Hogwarts Castle at our Harry Potter themed escape room. Look for clues, solve puzzles, and work together to prove your wizarding abilities. Familiarity with the Harry Potter books (or movies.) is not required, but will be very helpful. Recommended group size is 4 to 7 players. Smaller teams may be grouped with other teams as needed. Registration for this program opens at 10 a.m. Feb. 18. Call 641-792-4108 to reserve your time slot.
