Police Blotter Feb. 12, 2019

Newton Police Department

• Jeffrey D. Summers, 41, of Newton, was charged with domestic assault at 9:31 p.m. Friday. According to Newton Police, officers were sent to the 600 block of First Street South for a domestic disturbance. Officers spoke to Summers and the female victim at the scene. The victim said Summers got angry because she hid his liquor and allegedly choked the victim, with both of his hands pushing on her neck and she couldn’t breathe. The victim also said Summers allegedly hit her in the nose, which she had red marks around her neck and blood coming out of her nose. Summers was arrested and transported to Jasper County Jail.
