A little Twinkle

Little girls and their main man are invited to “Twinkle” at the fourth annual Father Daughter Dance in Baxter. The music will start at 3 and run until 5 p.m. Feb. 23 giving the pint size pairs plenty of time to groove and giggle on the dance floor in the west commons at the school.

The event is sponsored by the Baxter Parents Teachers Organization as a way to raise funds for various projects and needs throughout the district. It is $20 per family to attend

“It is probably the funnest fundraiser we do, the one everyone enjoys putting on the most,” organizer Lindsey Bethards said. “It has grown quite a bit, we usually plan for about 150 but I don’t know if we have every gotten an actual count.”

With a DJ on hand spinning favorites including “Let it go” and the “Cha Cha Slide,” Bethards said the afternoon is usually a lot of screaming girls with nervous dads having a good time on the dance floor. With many varieties of candy laid out and cupcakes available to eat, the sugar rush will be high along with the energy dressed up girls bring with them to the dance.

“The little girls stock up on candy,” Bethards said. “There is a lot of candy eaten.

To commemorize the event, a photo booth will be available for plenty of selfies along with a professional photographer for official photos at minimum cost. The event is held in the afternoon to give the group an opportunity to host the middle school Snowball dance in the evening and to give the young duos the chance to have lunch or dinner before or after the dance.

“The girls really look forward to it,” Bethards said.

The funds raised at the dance stay with the school and can be utilized by teachers who apply for grants from the PTO for anything extra they might need in their classroom.

“Anything that would benefit the classroom,” Bethards said.
