COLFAX — Cauy Fitch and Damir Gumerov went 2-0 on their Senior Night, and Colfax-Mingo’s wrestling team split two duals at home on Thursday night.
Junior Cyden Fitch joined his older brother Cauy Fitch and Gumerov with a pair of wins, but the Tigerhawks struggled in contested matches.
Colfax-Mingo downed HLV 48-27 and lost 58-15 to Bondurant-Farrar. Against HLV, the Tigerhawks took six forfeits but were 2-5 in contested matches. The Blue Jays were 10-3 with seven pins in contested matches against the Tigerhawks (14-6).
Cauy Fitch, who is ranked seventh in Class 1A at 120 pounds, improved to 20-2 on the season. He won one match by fall and claimed an 8-3 decision against Bondurant-Farrar (13-5).
Cauy Fitch also pulled within one win of the school record. He now has 131 career wins and can pass Colton Lourens’ school-record of 132 at the Tigerhawks’ next dual competition on Jan. 17 in Marengo.
Cyden Fitch is now 20-1 after two wins by pin. Gumerov took a forfeit against HLV (7-11) and earned a win by pin against B-F. Gumerov is now 19-6 on the season.
Juniors Hunter Green, Tim Carroll and Noah Strohmeyer and freshmen Kenny Schlosser and Tanner Gorman all took forfeits along with Gumerov against HLV.
Colfax-Mingo wrestles in a quadrangular against Iowa Valley, North Mahaska and BGM at 6 p.m. next Thursday in Marengo.
