NEW SHARON — Senior Andrew Esqueda won both of his matches on Thursday night, but Baxter’s wrestling team lost twice during a non-conference triangular.

The Bolts lost to North Mahaska 40-3 and fell 54-24 to English Valleys/Tri-County.

Against English Valleys/Tri-County (15-9), the Bolts (2-16) were 2-1 in contested matches but gave up 42 points in forfeits.

They were given 12 points back in forfeits but the 30-point difference was also the final margin of defeat.

Freshman Grant Borts earned a win by pin inside of a minute during his match at 138 and senior Austin Good (11-6) took a forfeit at 145.

Freshman Cole Maige also took a forfeit at 132, and Esqueda won his match by pin in the second period at 160.

The lone win against North Mahaska came from Esqueda.

Esqueda claimed an 8-2 win by decision in the dual.

North Mahaska (3-7) took three forfeits against the Tigerhawks and were 4-1 in contested matches.

Baxter competes in a quadrangular at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Woodward.
