Van Ryswyk’s big night leads PCM boys past Knoxville

MONROE — A monster effort from senior Andrew Van Ryswyk led Prairie City-Monroe’s boys’ basketball team to a third straight win on Saturday night.

Van Ryswyk finished with 25 points,19 rebounds, two assists and two blocks, and the Mustangs blasted Class 3A Knoxville 66-35 during a non-conference home game.

PCM improved to 5-2 on the season, while Knoxville dropped its second straight and fell to 4-2. The win for the Mustangs was their third straight.

The Mustangs led 36-16 at halftime. When PCM has scored more than 62 points this season, it is 5-0. The Mustangs scored less than 60 points in both losses.

Junior Derek Brown scored 13 points, grabbed three rebounds and dished out four assists and senior Reed Worth hit four 3-pointers and scored 12 points and added five assists and four steals

Junior Jason Stafford buried two treys and scored eight points, grabbed three boards and delivered four assists.

Senior Isaac Telfer chipped in four points, four rebounds and three assists.

Van Ryswyk hit four treys, and PCM had 11 3-pointers in the win. Van Ryswyk was 4-for-5 from 3-point range and Worth hit 4-of-7 from deep.

Sophomore Kieren Nichols averaged 29 points per game in Knoxville’s first four games. PCM held Nichols to 12 on Saturday.
