John Festvog

John Festvog, 37, died as a result of an auto accident Nov. 28, 2018, near Cave Junction, Ore. John lived in Colfax until moving to Oregon in 2004. John graduated from the Colfax-Mingo High School in 1999. He worked in construction in Portland, Ore., until moving to Cave Junction in 2013.

John’s dream was always to be a farmer and he spent his time in southern Oregon pursuing his dream.

John is survived by his son, Oluf of O’Brien, Ore., and Oluf’s mother, Amara Cole; his parents, Kent and Marjory Festvog of Colfax; sisters, Karen (Keith) Akerberg of Des Moines and Katie (Jake) Baldwin of Collins; nephew, Jonas Baldwin and niece, Jaida Baldwin of Collins; and grandmother, Sarah Byrns of Jefferson. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Byrns, Oluf Fetvog and Dordie Festvog.

A celebration of life gathering to honor John’s memory will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 29 in the Chalice room at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax.
