Tigerhawk wrestlers down three HOIC foes

STORY CITY — Colfax-Mingo’s wrestling team was back on the mat on Dec. 6 in a quadrangular against some former conference rivals.

The Tigerhawks improved to 7-1 on the season with a trio of wins over former Heart of Iowa Conference foes Roland-Story, South Hamilton and Saydel.

Colfax-Mingo defeated host Roland-Story 48-34, downed Saydel 60-21 and were victorious over South Hamilton 56-21.

Six Tigerhawks were 3-0 on the night, including seniors Cauy Fitch and Damir Gumerov, juniors Trystin Ross and Cyden Fitch and freshmen Gabriel Gwinn and Kenny Schlosser.

Cauy Fitch, who is ranked eighth at 120 pounds in Class 1A, won all three of his matches by fall.

He is now 7-1 on the season with seven pins.

Ross, Schlosser, Gwinn and Cyden Fitch all won two matches by forfeit and one by pin. Gumerov won by fall, technical fall and forfeit.

Cyden Fitch is now 5-0 on the season with three pins, Ross is 11-2 with five pins and Gumerov is 10-2 with six pins.

Junior Noah Strohmeyer improved to 9-1 on the season after going 2-1 on Thursday. He had one win by forfeit and one by fall.

Senior Ilia Hostetter and juniors Tim Carroll and Chloe Forck went 2-1. They took a combined six forfeits.

Freshman Mariah Webster was 1-1 on the night, but she picked up her first-ever win on the mat with a 9-8 victory over South Hamilton’s Justin Wilson.

The Tigerhawks took seven forfeits against Saydel, six against Roland-Story and four against South Hamilton.

Colfax-Mingo wrestled in a quadrangular at English Valleys on Dec. 11.

The Tigerhawks wrestle in a quadrangular against Gilbert, Roland-Story and PCM at 6 p.m. on Dec. 13 in Monroe.

Tigerhawks split

two duals in Truro

TRURO — Colfax-Mingo split two non-conference duals on Dec. 4.

The Tigerhawks routed Collins-Maxwell, 60-6, and suffered their first loss of the season to Interstate 35.

Colfax-Mingo won four matches against the host Roadrunners but lost 55-21.

Strohmeyer, Carroll and Cyden Fitch all went 2-0 on the night, and Gumerov won his only match of the night to lead the Tigerhawks.

It was the first competition of the season for Cyden Fitch. He won both of his matches by fall at 132.

Carroll took a forfeit against Collins-Maxwell and won his match by fall against I-35. Strohmeyer won by fall and claimed a 17-10 decision.

Gumerov’s win came in the loss to I-35. Gumerov pinned Brock Thompson in the third period.

Against Collins-Maxwell, the Tigerhawks (4-1) took eight forfeits.

Cyden Fitch, Strohmeyer and Cauy Fitch all won their matches by fall and there two double forfeits.

Cauy Fitch, who is ranked eighth at 120 in Class 1A, lost for the first time this season when third-ranked Casey Baker of I-35 defeated him 12-2.

Ross took one of the eight forfeits against Collins-Maxwell. His lone loss of the night came by 7-3 decision to 10th-ranked Drew Kirkpatrick of I-35.
