The Monroe Police Department responded to 120 calls for service from Sept. 11 through Oct. 31. These community responses do not include officer initiated activity such as traffic stops.

• Assisted Jasper County Sheriff’s Office on traffic stop.

• Conducted a welfare check, officer unable to locate individual.

• Responded to a motor vehicle accident Highway 163 at the 30 mile marker.

• Conducted a vehicle unlock service.

• Assisted Prairie City on a traffic stop.

• Conducted a warrant check at a residence, officer unable to locate subject.

• Responded to a landlord/tenant dispute, handled by officer.

• Responded to a report of a reckless driver EB on Highway 163, vehicle located and was observed driving fine.

• Responded to a report of a missing child, child later found.

• Assisted JCSO on a motor vehicle accident on Highway 14.

• Conducted a second welfare check, individual located and was OK.

• Responded to a report of vandalism to a yard, case under investigation.

• Took a report of a suspicious vehicle taking pictures of a residence, case under investigation.

• Responded to a report of two females walking on Highway 163, officer unable to locate.

• Conducted a third motorist assist, elderly couple waiting for three hours. Assisted in getting the vehicle towed and were given a ride to Casey’s.

• Responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch, vehicle located and driver made arrangements to get pulled out.

• Responded to a report of a suspicious person, individual located and was Mediacom worker.

• Responded to an animal complaint, handled by officer and dog owner.

• Conducted a warrant arrest, drugs located on individual when arrested.

• Assisted JCSO on locating an individual on Highway 14, subject located.

• Responded to a report of a peddler in Monroe, officer were unable to locate the individual.

• Responded to a report of a reckless driver on Highway 163 at the 37 mile marker, officer unable to locate the vehicle.

• Assisted Monroe rescue on a second medical call.

• Responded to a report of a reckless driver southbound on Highway 14, officer unable to locate the vehicle.

• Assisted Marion County Sheriff’s Office in locating a reckless driver, vehicle located on Highway 163 at the 27 mile marker westbound.

• Responded to a report of animal’s at large, owner contacted.

• Conducted a death notification.

• Assisted MCSO in locating a vehicle that had almost caused an accident on Highway 14, vehicle located and welfare check was conducted and driver was OK.

• Responded to a report of a reckless driver on Highway 163 eastbound, officer was unable to locate vehicle.

• Took a report of a dog getting attack by another dog, handled by owners and officer.

• Responded to a report of a possible intoxicated driver with children in vehicle, vehicle located and stopped, children transported to Newton.

• Responded to a report of a reckless driver on Highway 163 eastbound at the 29 mile marker, vehicle located and was driving OK.

• Assisted JCSO on a mental subject.

• Responded to a domestic disturbance, verbal only and parties were separated.

• Assisted JCSO on a motor vehicle accident on Highway 163.

• Responded to a 911 hang phone call, accident.

• Responded to a report of a state vehicle all over the road, vehicle located and stopped, driver tired advised to not drive.

• Conducted a vehicle lockout service.

• Conducted a civil standby.

• Assisted Marion County on a motor vehicle accident on Highway 14.

• Assisted another agency on a debit card theft.

• Took a report of attempted child abduction, investigation completed, teenagers messing around.

• Responded to Casey’s south for a semi accident

• Took a report of a possible suicidal subject traveling through Monroe, officer unable to locate the vehicle.

Arrest Report

• Robert Hudson of Des Moines, was arrested for OWI third after a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle he was operating for a traffic violation 1:22 a.m. Sept. 27. Hudson was charged with OWI third and driving while suspended and taken into custody and transported to the Jasper County Jail for booking.

• Joel Chickering of Prairie City, was charged with harassment after an investigation was conducted on an incident that had occurred Sept. 20. Chickering was cited and released.

• Kegan Hegwood of Monroe, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent Oct. 2. Hegwood was located by the Oskaloosa Police Department and taken into custody and transported to the Jasper County Jail for booking.

• Clinton Engelbrecht of Monroe, was arrested on a warrant and for possession of a controlled substance Oct. 20. Engelbrecht was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding warrant. Engelbrecht was taken into custody and transported to the Jasper County Jail for booking.
