• Ashley N. Bigelow, 26, of Newton, was charged with assault causing bodily injury at 12:25 a.m. Nov. 4. According to Newton police, officers were sent to The Manhattan in the 100 block of First Avenue East on a call of a fight. Officers found the victim laying on the ground and witnesses confirmed Bigelow was in a fight with the victim. Bigelow allegedly shoved the victim and hit the victim’s head on the ground then left the scene. Bigelow was later found by officers and claimed the victim started the fight and she was defending herself. Bigelow received a citation and was summoned to appear in court. The victim in the fight, Amy M. Simmons, 35, of Newton, was also charged with disorderly conduct, and received a citation and summons to appear in court.
