Jingle for a Cure 5K to benefit Skiff Cancer Clinic

Are you ready for one of the area’s hottest winter races? Skiff Medical Center and the Pink Ribbon Support Group will be hosting the second annual Jingle for a Cure 5K Dec. 8. All money raised from the winter run/walk will support cancer services provided by the Skiff Cancer Clinic.

This family-friendly event, sponsored by Dr. Tom Buroker and Dr. Dan Buroker and Iowa Ortho, will offer 5K and one-mile routes, great for walkers, joggers and runners. Cost to participate is $25 if you pre-register by Nov. 26 and includes a commemorative long-sleeve T-shirt. Registration after Nov. 26 and day of the race will be $30, including the race gift (T-shirts will be available in limited quantities). In addition, all participants will receive jingle bells.

Registration and packet pick-up will begin at 8 a.m. in the Skiff Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department, located on the lower level of the Ross Medical Arts Building at 300 N. Fourth Ave. E. in Newton, with the races beginning at 9 a.m. The course will start and end outside the northeast entrance of the hospital. Prizes will be awarded to overall and age group winners in both the 5K and one-mile runs.

“The Skiff Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation team is excited to again partner with the Pink Ribbon Support Group to host the Jingle for a Cure,” Robyn Friedman, Skiff physical therapist and event coordinator, said. “There is a course for everyone — runners, walkers, joggers. We invite you to join us at this fun event and support the Skiff Cancer Clinic at the same time.”

Registration forms are available at the hospital and online at getmeregistered.com/JingleforaCure. To learn more, contact Robyn Friedman at rfriedman@skiffmed.com or 641-791-4380.
