• Jeremy D. Bruce, 36, of Harrah, Okla., and Christopher D. Maahs, 33, of Colfax, were both charged with third-degree burglary at 3:02 a.m. Sunday. According to Newton police, officers responded to a call of a burglary in progress in the 400 block of West Third Street South after witnesses, inside a tan Chevrolet Blazer, followed the suspects. Officers followed the Blazer southeast from the location before they went on to the westbound exit to get on Interstate 80. Officers stopped the Blazer on the exit. Bruce and the driver, Maahs, admitted to taking several boxes from another vehicle, estimated to be worth hundreds of dollars in value. Bruce and Maahs were arrested and transported to the Jasper County Jail.

• Dylan T. Poe, 25, of Newton, was charged with operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent at 5 p.m. Sunday. According to Newton police, officers were sent to an apartment in the 800 block of South 13th Avenue East. When officers arrived, they were told by the father and brother Poe allegedly took a vehicle without the owner’s consent and wanted to press charges. Dylan was later located, arrested and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
