Newton Express Care Clinic to host open house Tuesday

A new choice in health care is soon coming to Newton.

Skiff Medical Center and Newton Clinic are partnering to offer an urgent-style clinic to the community. Newton Express Care Clinic will be located in Hy-Vee, near the pharmacy. For a sneak peek, an open house will be held 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Attendees can meet the providers, tour the newly constructed facility and enjoy complimentary refreshments.

The clinic will be staffed by nurse practitioners Jody Timmins and Anna Blanchett, both of whom are employed by Newton Clinic.

Common conditions that can be seen will include: allergies, bronchitis, cold and flu symptoms, cold sores, earache and ear infections, insect bites, laryngitis, minor burns, minor skin infections, pink eye, poison ivy, skin rashes, sinus infections, sore throat and urinary tract infections. Other services will include ear wax removal, health screenings, Medicaid wellness visits, sports and camp physicals, wart removal, pregnancy testing, flu vaccines and more.

Newton Express Care Clinic’s hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday through Sunday. The planned start date is Oct. 29.
