Colfax-Mingo ends season with shutout loss to W-G

COLFAX — Woodward-Granger kept its slim playoff hopes alive and eliminated Colfax-Mingo from the postseason conversation with a 30-0 shutout road win on Friday night during Class 1A District 7 action.

Both teams end the regular season at 5-4.

Colfax-Mingo finished 2-3 in district play, while Woodward-Granger went 3-2.

Neither team earned a 1A wild-card playoff spot when the postseason qualifiers were announced early Saturday morning.

The Tigerhawks ended the season with three losses in their last four games.

Colfax-Mingo was held to 138 total yards on Senior Night against Woodward-Granger.

The Hawks rushed for 363 yards, led by junior Tate Lettow’s 177 yards on 33 carries.

Junior Brady Berkey was 8-of-26 through the air with 92 yards and two interceptions.

Senior Holister Koenig had 32 rushing yards and 19 receiving yards and junior Trinity Schroeder collected 52 yards on four catches.

Senior Zarek Hill added to two school records with another interception. He finishes his prep career with a school-record 12 interceptions and a school-record 19 turnovers forced.

Woodward-Granger’s defense had three interceptions, five sacks and nine tackles for loss.

Senior Joe Rhodes had four tackles, two sacks and two tackles for loss to lead the Hawks.
