Inmate escapes from Newton Correctional Release Center

An inmate from Newton Correctional Release Center walked away without permission Tuesday night, according to an Iowa Department of Corrections press release.

Terry Lee Fink II, who had been convicted in Franklin County of operating while under the influence of alcohol or a drug and eluding, both aggravated misdemeanors, was not present during a routine headcount at 9:10 p.m., prompting officials to review security footage. Video recordings revealed the inmate breaching a secured emergency vehicle gate and walking away from the minimum security correctional facility roughly two hours prior to roll call.

The 46-year-old, white male escapee measures 6’0’’ and weighs 200 pounds. Fink II was placed in Newton Correctional Release Center Oct. 4.

Law enforcement officials from Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Des Moines Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the 5th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services Fugitive Apprehension Team have all been notified and are working to apprehend the escaped inmate.

Those with information regarding Fink II’s whereabouts are asked to contact local police. Citizens are advised to not attempt to apprehend the subject. and instead are asked to leave the area and call the police immediately if they believe they have encountered Fink II.

He has a Harley Davidson tattoo on his right forearm and a three-leaf clover tattoo on his right wrist.
