Baxter’s homecoming spoiled by AGWSR

BAXTER — AGWSR won its fifth straight game and spoiled Baxter’s homecoming during a 69-14 win in Class 8-Man District 5 action on Oct. 5

The Bolts trailed 48-8 at halftime. They fell to 1-6 on the season and 1-4 in district play.

The Cougars are now 5-2 overall and 5-0 in district play.

Senior Peyton Johnston had 50 yards and a touchdown on nine carries for the Bolts. His 3-yard TD run put the Bolts on the board in the second quarter. Johnston also had 43 yards on three catches.

Baxter’s other touchdown came on a 7-yard TD pass from senior Brendyn Padget to senior Dalton Heer. Padget threw for 167 yards. Heer had three catches for 89 yards.

Freshman Rory Heer tallied 24 yards on three catches and gained 36 yards on 13 carries.

The Bolts finished with 262 total yards in the loss. They turned it over three times.

AGWSR rushed for 351 yards in the game. Jaden Penning led the way with 175 yards and three touchdowns. Cale Culver had 89 rushing yards and two TDs.

Titan Opperman had 82 passing yards and two TDs on offense and led the Cougar defense with eight tackles. Chase Harms had two interceptions.

Baxter looks to snap a three-game skid when it plays Colo-NESCO (1-7, 1-4) at 7 p.m. on Oct. 12 in Colo.
