PCM volleyball loses twice at R-S tourney

STORY CITY — Prairie City-Monroe’s volleyball team went 0-2 in the Roland-Story Norsemen Invitational volleyball tournament on Monday night.

The Mustangs opened the night with a two-set loss to Heart of Iowa Conference rival Roland-Story, and then lost a three-set match to Newton.

The host Norse defeated PCM 21-14, 21-7. Newton rallied past the Mustangs to win 16-21, 21-11, 15-8.

Against Roland-Story (17-4), junior Shelby Voeller had three assists and senior Avery Stock had two digs.

Voeller finished with eight digs to lead PCM (4-18) against Newton (4-11). Stock, who earned a spot on the all-tournament team, had two digs.

Sophomore Emma Houser and Jacki Vos both collected two kills.

PCM hosts Greene County at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Monroe.
