United Way of Jasper County Letter of Intent forms now available

United Way of Jasper County’s allocation process for the upcoming funding cycle has officially begun with the Letter of Intent forms available to agencies seeking financial support.

Letter of Intent forms are available upon request by emailing UWJC Executive Director Jessica Lowe Vokes at unitedwayjc@gmail.com. Agencies wanting to be considered for UWJC funding must submit a Letter of Intent by Oct. 9.

Those applying for funds must be a nonprofit in good standing for two years and provide health and human service programs to Jasper County citizens. Programs that fall within the community impact areas of education, health and income will be considered for the 2019-20 funding cycle (April 1, 2019-March 31, 2020).

"The Letter of Intent is an important first step in our allocations process," Lowe Vokes said. "The LOIs will be reviewed by United Way board members to ensure agencies and their programs meet requirements for funding. Once approved, the agencies will move on to the in-depth allocations process."
United Way operates a program-based fund distribution system and allocates funds to specific programs of tax-exempt, nonprofit agencies serving Jasper County residents. More than $264,000 was allocated by United Way of Jasper County for the 2018-19 funding cycle. Additionally, more than 12,000Jasper County citizens received assistance and support through UWJC-funded programs.

The Letter of Intent form is due by 5 p.m. Oct. 9. Forms can bee-mailed, or mailed or dropped off at UWJC office, 312 First Ave. W., Newton,Iowa 50208. No late submissions will be accepted.

“I encourage agencies who we are currently funding, funded in the past or who have never received funding from us to take part in this part of the application,” Lowe Vokes said. “United Way’s goal is to help as many people as possible so I strongly encourage agencies to take this important first step towards receiving funding.”
