• Newton Police officers responded to a three-vehicle accident at 4:32 p.m. Friday. According to a Newton Police report, officers were called to the accident at the intersection of East 12th Street South and South 13th Avenue East. A black 2007 Dodge Durango, driven by Justin T. Prior, 37, of Leon, was driving westbound on South 13th Avenue East, sitting at the stop sign at the intersection. A brown 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis, driven by Betty L. Willemsen, 81, of Monroe, was driving southbound on East 12th Street South while going through the intersection. According to police reports, the Durango failed to yield at the stop sign and collided into the side of the Grand Marquis. The Grand Marquis then, as a result of the force from the impact, collided with a camper attached to a pickup truck waiting its turn to drive through the intersection. Prior received a citation for failing to yield at a stop sign, as well as no insurance. Willemsen was transported by Newton Fire Department to Skiff Medical Center.

• David K. Crady, 51, of Newton, was charged with trespassing at 10:41 a.m. Monday. According to a Newton Police report, officers were sent to the 500 block of West 10th Street North on a call regarding Crady allegedly sleeping in a basement closet uninvited. The 911 caller, Crady’s daughter, called regarding similar incidents with Crady Saturday and warned him then she would have him arrested if he trespassed again. Crady was arrested, received a citation to appear in court and was released.
