Violet Elaine Waterman, 82, of Marshalltown, passed away the morning of Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at the Iowa River Hospice Home with her loving family by her side.

A memorial service for Elaine will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jacob Rahrig officiating. Public visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Elaine’s name to the Iowa River Hospice Home. Violet Elaine Pugh was born July 2, 1936, at the, then, hospital in Montezuma, the daughter of Roy and Violet (Spencer) Pugh. She graduated from Montezuma Consolidated High School and grew up on the Pugh farm on the Diamond Trail two miles west of Montezuma. Elaine was one of six children.

She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Norman Waterman, May 7, 1961, at the Bethany Reformed Church in Baxter From this union the couple was blessed with three children: Ivan, Jill and Kris. Elaine was employed for many years at the courthouse in the assessors department.

She was a proud member of First Baptist Church, local coffee group and the Red Hats. Elaine was an active member of the Red Hats for the past 18 years. She always enjoyed taking in the scenery and different seasons as her and Norman would take their annual
trips to Branson.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Norman; children, Ivan (Tina) Waterman of Glendale, Ariz., Jill (Chris) Brockman of Marshalltown and Kris (Karen) Waterman of Valencia, Calf.; grandchildren, Samantha, Holly, Brittney, Kelsey (Jay), Bailey, Sydney and Noah; brother, Larry Pugh of Pella; sister, Marilyn (Donovan) Deppe of Newton; brother-in-law, Vernon (Margaret) Waterman of Melbourne; and sister-in-law, Arlene Connor of Atlanta, Ga. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Violet Pugh; brother, Roy Pugh; and two sisters, Bernice McCartney and Donna McClure.
