The Jasper County Historical Museum and the Baxter and Newton High School Speech Departments will host a cemetery walk and historic reenactment at Restland Cemetery in Baxter from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Visitors will take a walk back in time, encountering actors dressed in period costume at several locations throughout the cemetery. The actors will present on the lives and roles of some of Baxter’s most interesting and prominent citizens.
Among the gravestones included in the cemetery walk are “Doc” Harold Townsend, Lois Halter, Dr. Buchanan, Joy Mason, Floyd Mason, and Arthur Petermeier. Visitors will also listen to the storyteller of Old Baxter.
Tickets are $6 for adults and children under age 5 are free. Tickets will be available for purchase at the cemetery gate.
In the event of rain, the program will be in the Baxter School Commons.
