Tigerhawk volleyball falls to 1A No. 8 Montezuma

COLFAX —áThe Colfax-Mingo hosted the South Iowa Cedar League’s best team on Monday night, and the Class 1A No. 8 Montezuma Bravettes left town with a three-set victory.

Montezuma swept the Tigerhawks 25-7, 25-13, 25-11.

Colfax-Mingo fell to 1-7 overall and 0-2 in the SICL. Montezuma is now 10-4 and 2-0.

Leading the Tigerhawks were seniors Colbee Cunningham and Braedynn Rawlins, who each had three kills. Freshman Avery Rague added two kills.

Freshman Kyra Lester finished with a team-high seven assists, five digs and three aces. She was 9-of-10 in serves. The Tigerhawks were 29-of-32 in serves.

Senior Shaylee Shedenhelm collected a team-high six digs, while Cunningham, junior Abby Dille and sophomore Kira Warrick all had three digs.

The Tigerhawks play BGM at 7 p.m. Thursday in Brooklyn.
