I was pleased to see last week’s Daily News article, announcing plans to honor the 1988 Newton football team at a game during this season. It prompted me to contact the AD, stating I am hopeful that the 1990 team — which also reached the state finals — will be honored in two years on the team’s 30th anniversary. I was on the 1990 team as an equipment manager.
I have attended all of my class reunions so far, and I know I will likely enjoy a football team reunion just as much. I haven’t been to a Newton football game since 2007, but every so often I think about my time on the team and how it felt good to be part of a winning outfit. This is especially true now that I am in the performing arts, as I am regularly onstage in front of a crowd much like during my three seasons with my football teammates.
