Newton Police Department

• Nicholas H. Klingensmith, 51, of Newton, was charged with driving while license barred at 5:47 p.m. Monday. According to a police report, officers noticed Klingensmith driving in the 300 block of East 13th Street North while they knew his license was barred. He was arrested and transported to Jasper County Jail.

• Brandon W. McConnell, 31, of Newton, was charged with trespassing at 9:41 a.m. Tuesday. Officers were sent to the 600 block of East Third Street South on a call of a suspect inside an apartment against a signed trespass order. McConnell was located in the back bedroom and received a citation.

• Casey J. Brandt, 35, of Newton, was charged with fifth-degree theft at 9:22 a.m. Aug. 20. An officer took a report involving theft of a weed eater. A neighbor of Brandt told the officer he saw him using the weed eater. The officer located Brandt in the 300 block of East 13th Street North using a weed eater. After the officer investigated, he found two weed eaters in Brandt’s possession, one of which had the last name of the victim written on it. Both weed eater’s estimated cost is about $150. Brandt was arrested and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
